If variety is the spice of life, for you, then Craps may be the table game of your choice. It is a game that draws some of its excitement from the fact that there is such a plethora of options available to you. One such betting option is the Proposition Bet, otherwise known as the Prop Bet.
The Proposition Bets are often printed on the felt in red and can be found in an area situated in front of the ‘Stick Person’. The most common numbers are 2, 3, 11 and 12 although the number 7 can also be included in most casinos.
The Prop Bets are calculated using the downtown odds, and these offer an advantage to the player. If a 2 or a 12 is rolled then the odds are 30/1, if a 3 or 11 is rolled the odds are 15/1, if any crap number rolls 2, 3 or 12 the odds are 7/1 and finally if the 7 is rolled the odds are 4/1. Most regular players make a proposition bet during the come out roll, as insurance for the line bet, or bonus money in addition to winning the pass line bet.
The Prop Bets are not the most common bets found at a Craps table for obvious reasons. You don’t get odds of 30/1 without it being a tad difficult to access the windfall. As usual in all forms of gambling, the less likely you are to win, the higher the payout will be.
On the Craps table it is the Prop Bets that take this honor.
